Dawn of Independence made the Sinhala political leaders misleading many of the learned Buddhist priests to become the standard hearers of the Sinhala Buddhist chauvinism, forgetting Buddhist principles. Buddhist priests were identified as the first group of the Pancha Balavegaya of the Sinhala people. They were made to forget the Buddhist teachings, hatred cannot be won by hatred and were openly promoting violence. In the process innocent masses became gullible masses. Sinhala Buddhist chauvinist actively resulted in hatred, unemployment, poor economy and even made many an academic and intellectuals invent methods to make backstage, contributions made by early Tamil Buddhist priests in establishing Buddhism in Ceylon. They are also inventing methods to make Sinhala as Aryans. Fact is that Sinhalese are as much Drawidians as the Tamils themselves.
It is only the enlightened contribution of all Buddhist priests that can create peace in Sri Lanka.
